The weekend of June 24, 25,26 2022 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the annual Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival. Over the years, the Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival has grown to become one of the premier Festivals in Canada.
The Festival is a multi-faceted event which brings dragon-boaters from across western Canada and the Lethbridge and Southern Alberta Community together for a weekend of fun competition on the water as well as music, food and refreshments on the shore of Henderson Lake.
This event is a major fund-raiser for the Rotary clubs of Lethbridge. A wide array of community projects are supported by funds raised at this event.
There is a solemn component to the Festival, and that is the Rose Petal Ceremony offered by Abreast of Bridge, which honours the memory of breast cancer victims.
This beautiful, poignant ceremony will happen on Saturday, June 26 at noon near the concession stand at Henderson Lake.
Due to COVID restrictions, this is not a public event. The organizers want the public to be aware that even though the Dragon Boat Festival did not take place this year, this important anniversary has been remembered.
We look forward to 2022 when the Dragon Boats Festival will again take to the waters of Henderson Lake.

2021 ATB Financial Lethbridge Rotary Dragon Boat Festival Postponed to June 24-26th , 2022.
The Planning Committee, in consultation with the leadership of the Rotary Clubs of Lethbridge and Alberta Health, have determined this premiere festival event and the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Festival, scheduled for June 25-27th, 2021 will unfortunately be postponed to June 24-26th, 2022. This decision is the latest major event significantly impacted by the Covid Pandemic. The committee recognizes the impact this will have on the community, athletes, visitors and the sponsors of this signature community event.
“The health, safety and well-being of all those involved with the festival is paramount and cannot be jeopardized. Due to the additional risks imposed by this pandemic with an event of this magnitude, the Planning Committee will focus its efforts on the new vision for the festival for 2022 and years to come.” Diane Randell, Chair of the Planning Committee also comments, “We look forward to exceeding the long-standing expectations of our festival and to hosting our community, visitors, and athletes (local and out of town, out of province and country) in 2022 at the renowned dragon boat festival and races in Western Canada.
We are also most grateful to our long-standing major sponsor, ATB Financial, for their ongoing support and confidence in the Festival.”
The Planning Committee will also plan to mark the weekend in June in a meaningful way and issue an invitation to join us in 2022 and to celebrate 20 years of dragon boating at Henderson
